What drives the price of car a/c repair
Car A/C work spans three very different jobs that get quoted under one name. A recharge is cheap. Finding and fixing a leak (dye or nitrogen test, then a seal, hose, or condenser) is the middle. A compressor replacement is the expensive end, and a failed compressor usually demands a full system flush plus a new receiver-drier and expansion valve, or the new compressor dies too.
Refrigerant type moves every one of these numbers: newer vehicles use R-1234yf, which costs several times more per pound than R-134a.
