What drives the price of clutch replacement
A proper clutch job is a kit (disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing) because the labor to open the transmission dwarfs the parts. Quotes that look cheap sometimes cover the disc alone.
The flywheel decides the final number. Resurfacing is cheap; replacement isn't, and many modern cars use dual-mass flywheels that can't be resurfaced at all. Some layouts (notably some Subarus and rear-engine cars) require pulling the engine rather than the transmission, which adds real hours.
Worth asking the shop
Does the price include the full kit and flywheel resurfacing or replacement? Is the rear main seal being done while it's open?
