What drives the price of dental bridge
A fixed dental bridge is priced by units, not just missing teeth. A traditional bridge replacing one tooth commonly includes a pontic and crowns on neighboring abutment teeth. Longer spans, front-tooth aesthetics, zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or high-gold alloys affect laboratory work. Weak abutment teeth may need fillings, core buildups, root canals, or periodontal treatment before they can support the bridge.
Preparatory and temporary work carry much of the cost. Exams, X-rays, extractions, bone or gum shaping, buildups, temporary bridge, laboratory fabrication, and final cementation may be separate. An implant-supported bridge is a different treatment involving surgery and implant components. Insurance may limit replacement frequency or pay using an alternate-benefit provision.
Worth asking the shop
How many bridge units are being billed? Which teeth will support it, and are they healthy enough? Are buildups, temporary restoration, laboratory work, and cementation included? What material and warranty are specified?
Red flags
Preparing healthy neighboring teeth without discussing implant or removable options, quoting only the pontic rather than every unit, hiding required root canals or buildups until after preparation, or beginning treatment before confirming that the abutment teeth have adequate periodontal support.
