What drives the price of garage door spring repair
Spring type, door weight, and cycle rating determine what a spring job costs. Torsion springs mount above the opening and wind under torque; extension springs stretch beside the tracks and require safety cables. Heavy doors may use two torsion springs. Wire size, inside diameter, and length must be matched to the door rather than selected by appearance.
The one-spring-or-two decision drives most price differences. On a two-spring door, both have completed similar cycles, so replacing both can avoid another service call. Cables, drums, bearings, rollers, and conversion from extension to torsion are separate work and should not be added without showing wear. Higher-cycle springs cost more but should have a stated rating.

Red flags
A "lifetime" spring warranty with mandatory paid service visits, refusing to identify spring size, replacing cables and rollers without showing damage, or winding a spring while the opener remains engaged and the work area is unsecured.
