What drives the price of starter replacement
Starters are a lot like alternators: the part price splits between new and remanufactured, and the labor swings on access. Some starters are two bolts in the open; others hide under the intake manifold, which multiplies the hours.
A no-start has several cheap look-alikes (a weak battery, corroded terminals, a bad relay), so the diagnosis matters as much as the part. A shop that tests before replacing is worth the diagnostic fee.
