What drives the price of shock / strut replacement
Struts are priced in pairs, since replacing one side of an axle is false economy. The main fork in quotes is complete "quick-strut" assemblies (strut, spring, and mount pre-assembled: more parts cost, less labor) versus pressing new struts into your existing springs (cheaper parts, more labor). Quick struts usually win on total cost for common vehicles.
An alignment afterward is not optional; suspension work changes the geometry. Vehicles with electronic or air suspension are a different, far more expensive conversation.
Worth asking the shop
Quick-strut assemblies or components? Is the alignment included in the quote? Are mounts and bump stops included if you're pressing?
