What drives the price of water pump replacement
A water pump on its own is a moderate job. A water pump that lives behind the timing belt is a timing-belt job with a pump included, which is why the same repair can differ by hundreds of dollars between engine designs. If your engine is belt-driven, doing pump and belt together is the economical move.
Some newer engines use electric or chain-driven pumps with their own pricing. Either way the job should include fresh coolant and a pressure test afterward.
